Wilddarts Edit – Fall 2013 Collections NEW YORK
MARC JACOBS
I must be into coats this season because I can’t get enough of them! Marc Jacobs didn’t disappoint me at all. Favourites being the charcoal and brown coats clutched by models as they walked around the runway and the amazing electric blue coat with belt that must be the most comfiest thing – doesn’t it seem? I also oddly loved the fish netted nude and black dress.. would look interesting in an editorial or on the red carpet yes?

MILLY
Inspired by the Big Apple, designer Michelle Smith has created a very cool and contemporary collection for Milly Fall 2013. Milly and its designer are known for their relaxed silhouettes, sweatshirts, comfortable menswear inspired grey coat and relaxed leather pants.

MM6 MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA
This latest offering to the fashion world from MMM was inspired by the 1952 Winter Olympic Games – interesting! Favourite looks include the black fitted coat with blue leather pants, the oversized coat with metallic skirt and sweater/maxi combo.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA
This year marks the 50th year Oscar de la Renta has been designing clothes in NYC. Recently, de la Renta has made headlines in fashion when he announced last month that he invited John Galliano to be designer-in-residence at his studio for a 3 week period. Some have said that this Fall collection bears his handiwork.. what do you think?
Favourites include the amazing floral long sleeved bubble dress or coat? and the gorgeoussssss floor length sheer embroidered/ feather jewelled incrusted 1920′s esq flapper dress… amazing!

RACHEL ZOE
Claiming that her Fall 2013 collection took on the ‘English/seventies/equestrian’ vibe, Rachel Zoe delivered some gorgeous pieces that have taken on a new style (not that her style isn’t amazing) I loved the tailored pants of this collection and the colour pallet. Tailored leather jackets, camel pieces, grey tie up coats and yes.. fur.. love these pieces.

RODARTE
I first saw these gorgeous tie dye prints was on Instagram (how fitting) and I seriously couldn’t get them out of my head! Screen shot! Keep that!
These few looks in the middle of Laura and Kate Mulleavy’s Fall 2013 collection really stood out. Although not what I would have thought for Fall.. still very refreshing! It’s nice to see something different once and a while.

RODEBJER
Debuting on the NYFW stage this year, Carin Rodebjer who moved to NYC from Stockholm a year ago took this time to think back on her childhood living in Sweden and the natural environment. The clothes were very texturised, favourites being the rolled up grey textured pant, the camel long cape and the two toned long coat.

THAKOON
Thakoon Panichgul sighted after rereading Ray Bradbury’s novel ‘Dandelion Wine’ got him thinking about ‘summer captured and stoppered’ I love how this translated in the prints, a skirt with falling dandelions with a contrasted black sheer panelled top.

THE ROW
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, designers of The Row described their collection as ‘without it being easy, we wanted it to be easy’ – confusing.. maybe initially but we see their point. Favourite looks were the oversized black sweater and a modern take on the pencil skirt with a side slit, and a gorgeous wrap jacket.

THEYSKENS’ THEORY
Olivier Theyskens, designer of Theyskens’ Theory touched on futurism backstage before his show. ‘If it didn’t look, as he put it, comfy enough to wear overnight in a spaceship, it didn’t make it onto the runway.’ I loved the quilted pullovers, woollen jumpers and tops and the khaki relaxed skirts and tweed shorts.

TIBI
Amy Smilovic, the designer of Tibi focused on utilitarian sportswear and layering for her Fall 2013 collection. Quilted bomber jackets, sculpted neoprene sweatshirts and pencil skirts with sheer detailing were lovely. The variety of coats and the sexy leather panelled pants were my favourite.

VICTORIA BECKHAM
Victoria Beckham has an elegance about her that only few people can really develop properly. Coats a plenty, favourites being the checked tweed on top and blue pony hair below the hips and the black pony hair bomber jacket.

YIGAL AZROUEL
The relaxed pieces were a hit at Yigal Azrouel this season. I loved the chunky fur coat and the wool pullover with slits and zip detailing. Seriously obsessed!
