WILDDARTS EDIT OF SPRING/SUMMER 2013 COLLECTIONS – LONDON FASHION WEEK

DAKS

Daks designer Sheila McKain-Waid has created a very crisp and clean collection this season. The pieces below are cut really well to be very simplistic and weightless. I love the cut around the arms in the black mid calf length dress.

DION LEE

Fellow Aussie Dion Lee is one of our favourite exports! He is very very talented! The structure of his pieces are amazing! The edit below includes my favourite pieces from his Spring/Summer collection, looks 3 and 4 below in particular. I love the blue laser doodle prints (like the prints I use to make as a child with those geometric shapes! Did anyone else do this?!) and the low cut leather and sheer dress. LOVE

EUDON CHOI

Described on style.com as ‘futuristic sixties mod’ Eudon Choi’s spring/summer collection was filled with modern shapes, cuts and wearable pieces!

FELDER FELDER

My favourite looks from Felder Felder this season included chetah-esque printed sheer skirts, slip tops and long printed skirts. I loved the cropped high necked tops and mini dresses.. this collection is lovely! I would wear this in a heartbeat!

JEAN-PIERRE BRAGANZA

At Jean-Pierre Braganza, shard prints were a plenty! I love the mini dresses below, jumpsuits.. very modern and simplistic.

SASS AND BIDE

Sass and Bide – another home grown label that I am obsessed with and have been forever! (Luckily I have 2 boutiques within 2 and 5 minutes from my house!!!) This collection was described by Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke (the design pair) as ‘born on a trip to Buenos Aires and Peru – but more about the energy and feeling of those places than the aesthetics.’

Standout pieces include the laser cut pants and jacket/short pairing, the ornate fabrics and neckpieces, feathered skirts and dresses, embellished tops, sheer tops, tuxedo tops and pants and a show stopping halter-neck sequined floor length dress!

Can’t wait until these pieces are in store! :)

PREEN

After 5 years showing in New York, Preen (AKA Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi) returned to London. I enjoy the mixed matched prints and the shoess! ohhh the shoes!

TOPSHOP UNIQUE

This collection by Topshop was one of my favourites! Mostly a neutral palate of black and white with injections of yellow’s and navy blues, Kate Phelan has done a wonderful job at creating a very chic collection. I love sheer this season and I am loving the criss cross pattered dresses and tops, the textured jackets and amazing oversized clutch bags :) I love the oversized jumpers with what appears to be side zips?! or slits? and the futuristic plastic looking skirts…

seriously obsessed with this collection! Someone set up an alert on topshop.com so I can buy it all!!!

ANTONIO BERARDI

At Antonio Berardi, I am sorta obsessed with these sequined pants and smokers jackets!

The dresses adorned with what also could be sequins or something similar, has a grecian vibe to me.. very resort/beachy :)

JOHNATHAN SAUNDERS

Standouts at Johnathan Saunders include these bomber jackets, the one on the left in particular. It has an almost holographic quality.. love!

MARY KATRANTZOU

I love the prints at Mary Katrantzou very full on! In particular I love the printed pants and the emerald green oversized vest! Very interesting!

BURBERRY PRORSUM

This season at Burberry Prorsum, I loved the oversized jackets! That was about it really…. The collection kinda reminded me at times of Prada?! Did anyone else think this??

RICHARD NICOLL

Love the under veil of sheer material in the dresses and the light quality of the pieces! Also love the shoes! (Loving shoes this season!)

Cynthia Rowley‘s presentation of her Spring/Summer 2013 collection on the last day of New York Fashion Week was too good to condense in my New York Edit; it deserved its own post!

The installation, which was presented in an old hotel on Beekman Street, was full of confetti which set a abandoned party vibe. Cleverly, the models also wore gold bangles that doubled as flasks! (I think I need a few of those for my town missions!)

The reason why I loved this collection so much is because I believe the creative direction really propelled the clothes to the next level! The surroundings and the images on style.com really had me intrigued. I love the natural light in the photographs and could totally see this working for a editorial shoot :)

What do you think?!

WILDDARTS EDIT – NEW YORK FASHION WEEK PART 2

ALICE + OLIVIA

This season at Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet was inspired by the 1950′s American dream.

I’m loving the high necklines, the prints and structure of the collection. Also, I love the creative direction of the setting, the splashes of colour in the background clash well and compliment the pieces.

BRANDON SUN

At Brandon Sun, I really enjoyed the accessories! The fur necklace and bracelet shown in my edit below are very interesting pieces and take the clothes to another level.

The first and second looks in my edit have a very ‘free’ feel! I like the cuts and structure of these pieces – as well with the dusty colours!

The third look in my edit has lovely pockets and what appears to be a zip?! Very edgy! The razor tank top of the dress also brings out this feeling.

JOSIE NATORI

Let me start by saying I LOVE the headpieces! The lovely orchids give the collection a tropical, resort vibe which is lovely! As this IS spring/summer! – Maybe thats the Australian part of me talking!

The shoes are also another stand out for me – which are a first for the designer!

In the first look for my edit – I love the lightweight and airy feel of the blouse! The flowers around the base make it very pretty. The pants are also very airy and light.

The second look.. wow! Can’t go past that clutch! Very ornate and shows the designers Philippine heritage. Textures were a key aspect of this collection which I loved.

MARC JACOBS

Perfectly described on style.com by Tim Banks – “21st century split of Edie Sedgwick”

Loved the striped tee and the candy striped, scolloped edged slip dress :)

REEM ACRA

Loving the sexy low cut blouses and dress necklines! I love the sheer panel in the blouse below and could seriously see someone wearing the second look on a red carpet!

THEYSKENS’ THEORY

Theyskens’ Theory is seriously grungy but in a good way! The looks below are very wearable. My favourite being look three – I love the jacket and the thigh high split in the high waisted skirt.

VICTORIA, VICTORIA BECKHAM

This lower priced line by Victoria Beckham is seriously wearable (in my opinion!) I like the oversized tee-dress that has a dip dye quality to it – the blue is very refreshing!

Prints were nice too.. loved the black and white florals.

JENNY PACKHAM

Below is my favourite look from Jenny Packham, Love the hair, the print and cut of the dress – beautiful!

RODARTE

Love the greens in this seasons collection by Rodarte. Another stand out piece were these kick ass pants!

VERA WANG

Taking inspiration from India for her Spring/Summer collection, Vera Wang had amazing textures and colours! My favourites being the crisp whites and purples! Love the shoes also!!

ELIZABETH AND JAMES

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen always have impeccable taste when it comes to clothing and their clothing labels are no different. My favourite looks from this seasons collection for Elizabeth and James include this crisp white jumpsuit and the black v neck silk blouse and to the ankle wrap skirt. Love the wooden looking bangles as well.

J. MENDEL

10 years since Gilles Mendel launched J.Mendel ready to wear! This seasons collection were based around watercoloured materials, v necks and ornate prints.

JEREMY SCOTT

Jeremy Scott was filled with golds and leathers! I loved the looks below. Something drew me to these sheer pants with baroque gold embellishments.

LOUISE GOLDIN

There was a sporty and casual vibe at the Louise Goldin spring summer show. I loved the sweatshirts and skirts below!

PROENZA SCHOULER

LOVE the sport-esque jacket and the high necked sheer printed dress below!

RACHEL ZOE

Naming Jane Birkin and Talitha Getty as her muses, Rachel Zoe’s spring summer collection has had mixed reviews. My favourite look from her collection is this spectacular sequined slouchy dress. All I can say is that Rachel Zoe knows her shit when it comes to red carpet looks and this look I can tell will be snapped up by someone for sure!

Slowly catching up with things! Stay glued to Wilddarts for the London edit which will be published tomorrow :)

It’s one from the vaults – Rachel Zoe in this deathly beautiful editorial for Harpers Bazaar US 2010 September issue. I have always enjoyed Rachel’s enthusiasm and intuitive eye for style and detail. This shoot is beautiful and so is the rest of her work!

Rachel Zoe is one of my all time fashion muses. She is very inspiring and talented.  I really enjoy her style, her drive for success and her easy-going nature.

Rachel is arguably one of the most recognised and famous stylists in the world – especially to non-fashion individuals!

“Brigitte Bardot is a huge inspiration to me both subconsciously and consciously. She’s kind of always inside my head. I love different icons at different phases in their lives – Jerry Hall, Sophia Lauren, Marianne Faithful, Ali MacGraw, Edie Sedgwick – the list goes on and on”.

“I believe that personal style is the best form of expression without ever having to speak.”

I couldn’t agree more Rachel! Similar to our previous Fashion muse post on Michelle Harper - fashion is something that shows off your personality and taste.. In my opinion, you don’t need to follow trends to be fashionable.. experimenting with fashion and being courageous to wear what you think is perfect for you :)

Many of them are tuned into Fashion Week, fall trends and Fashion’s Night Out, and have put some serious thought into how these major events affect their own personal style. Whether you’re enjoying the first, crisp breeze of fall or savoring an Indian summer, there are some great reads from some truly unique voices here for you. Enjoy!
